Kenya is a football nation. From the informal pitches of Mathare and Kibera to the stands of Kasarani and Nyayo — football is in our DNA. But for too long, the people who make our football ecosystem work have gone unrecognised.

Beyond the Stars

When we think of Kenyan football, we think of Harambee Stars, Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards. We think of the players who score the goals and make the headlines. But what about the coach in Kisumu who trains 50 kids every Saturday morning for free? What about the referee in Mombasa who drives 3 hours to officiate a county league match? What about the kit manager who washes jerseys by hand because the club cannot afford a machine?

The Gap the Jamhuri Sports Awards Fill

The Jamhuri Kenya Sports Excellence Awards exist to fill this gap. With 65 categories spanning 7 groups, we are not just honouring the obvious — we are honouring everyone. The safeguarding officer. The sports journalist. The county FKF branch leader. The women's football team administrator. The medical team that keeps players on the pitch.

Impact Over Fame

Our judging criterion is simple: impact. Not followers on Instagram. Not how many goals you scored. But what real difference you made in your community, your club, your sport. A grassroots coach who changed 100 lives is as worthy as a striker who won the league.

A Movement, Not Just an Event

The Jamhuri Sports Excellence Awards is more than a gala night. It is a movement to change how Kenya values the people who build our sports from the ground up. When we celebrate a kit manager or a young referee, we tell every young Kenyan that every role in football matters — and every role can be done with excellence.
